Grammy Award winner Trisha Yearwood has signed a 6 episode TV deal with the Food Network to star in her own daytime cooking show. Although there is no official title yet, the show is expected to debut sometime in April.
After having mainstream success in country music, Trisha Yearwood released her first cookbook co-written with her mother, Gwen and sister, Beth entitled, Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen and reached #1 on the best sellers list in 2008. The cookbook consisted of southern recipes from her mother and sister which included recipes passed down from her family and liner notes describing each recipe including: fried chicken, ribs, meatloaf and cheesecake. Her husband, Garth Brooks, wrote the book’s foreword and has stated how he was always fond of her cooking style.
After the success of her first cookbook, Yearwood released a second book entitled Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood, again co-written with her mother and sister and reaching #1 on the best sellers list. The book consisted of recipes passed down through her entire family history and was featured on the cover of Redbook Magazine. Yearwood explained that these recipes were reminiscent of her best childhood years.
