With a unique voice and a deft skill for song- writing, 27 year old Roc Nation artist, Mayaeni (Mah-yay-knee), is ready to introduce her “Rock & Soul” style to the world. The well-traveled Detroit native comes from a diverse background (her mother is West African, her father is Jewish) and has lived in a variety of places around the world, including Brooklyn and London.
Her experiences have helped cultivate her organic sound on songs like “Black Jeans” and “Go”. Mayaeni’s musical journey has led her in a variety of different directions. From dropping her self-titled debut in 2007, to having her song “Broken Glass” featured on the CBS hit show Hawaii Five-O in 2011, to working with Justin Parker (co-writer of Lana Del Ray’s “Video Games”) and DJ Sander Van Dorn on her overseas hit “Nothing Inside” in 2012, Mayaeni’s music has made waves in the industry. The song made the charts in numerous counties, including England and The Netherlands.
After signing with Roc Nation and performing at Ultra in Miami in 2012, this young talent is ready to take her career to the next level. Most recently, Mayaeni performed at the annual SXSW Festival in Austin, TX, and has been working with Pepsi Co. and Complex Magazine. With an EP and official single dropping towards the end of 2014, and her first official major label album following soon after, the sky is the limit for this gifted beauty.
