24 year-old English actress Jessica Rose Brown-Findlay made her name playing the much-love Lady Sybil Crawley in period drama Downton Abbey and Emelia Conan-Doyle in the British comedy-drama Albatross.
When Jessica was a little girl she dreamt of being a famous ballerina, she trained with the National Youth Ballet and the Associates of the Royal Ballet. At age 15, she was invited to dance with the Kirov at the Royal Opera House for a summer season. Jessica’s determination and spirit could not be dampened for long though and she was soon looking around for new challenges to embrace. Once there, Jessica happened upon acting and then began attending classes herself.
Brown Findlay was cast in the lead role of Emelia in the film Albatross, directed by Niall MacCormick opposite Hollywood actress Julia Ormond. She was subsequently cast in two episodes of the E4 program Misfits and in Downton Abbey, she played the youngest daughter of the Grantham household for three seasons before subsequently leaving the show to move forward in her career. In 2012, she became the face of Dominic Jones’ jewelry line and was cast in Not Another Happy Ending by John McKay, and in the miniseries Labyrinth, based on the novel of the same name written by Kate Mosse, portraying Alaïs Pelletier. In 2012, she was cast as Beverly Penn in the film adaptation of the novel Winter’s Tale (2014). She will also co-star in Paul McGuigan’s Frankenstein remake.
She was nomination with the British Independent Film Award (2011) and Evening Standard British Film Awards (2012).
Being only 24 year-old, Jessica Brown-Findlay has had a wonderful start to what looks like a great and long career.
