Abbi Jacobson lives in New York City. She is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art and is originally from outside Philadelphia. Abbi has studied improv and sketch at UCB since 2006. Her solo show, Welcome to Camp ran in NYC and LA in 2011. She is 1/2 of the web series Broad City which has been featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The AV Club. Broad City is currently in development with Comedy Central. She has also worked as an illustrator, and published two coloring books with Chronicle Books in 2013, Color This Book: New York City and Color This Book: San Francisco.
From 2009 to 2011, Jacobson and Glazer wrote and performed in Broad City which focused on their lives in New York, playing fictionalized versions of themselves. Its first season was praised by critics and the show was renewed for a second season by Comedy Central. Created by Abbi Jacobson ’06 and Ilana Glazer, Broad City is an offbeat web series centered on the misadventures of two female best friends. The show has developed a cult following online. The show also caught the eye of Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler, who teamed up with Jacobson and Glazer to take the show to television.
The series was nominated for an ECNY Award for Best Web Series. It was well-received by critics and developed a cult following. At the Upright Citizens Brigade, Jacobson and Glazer adapted the series into a live show that they performed in, called Broad City Live.
