Most people know Dia Frampton from her stint on the NBC hit show The Voice, where she finished in second place.  But if you go back a few years, you will find Dia had an impressive following even then.

In 2004, Frampton formed a band with her sister; Meg & Dia.  A year later they self-released their first album Our Home Is Gone.  In 2006, they signed with Doghouse Records- where they released their 2nd album- and later went on to sign with Warner Bros. Records to release their 3rd album.  After being dropped from the label in 2010, Meg & Dia self-released their 4th studio album Cocoon.

As of July 7, 2011 Dia’s The Voice digital releases have sold 480,000 downloads.  It was recently announced that she will embark on a headlining tour with country musician and her The Voice mentor Blake Shelton.

Check out Dia (and catch a glimpse of Meg on guitar!) in ‘The Broken Ones’, Dia’s first single off of her debut solo album Red which is slated for a December 6 release.

Singer-songwriter Katie Herzig released her fifth studio album, The Waking Sleep, on September 20, 2011. Herzig reached success back with her first album, Watch Them Fall, when the title track was featured on the WB’s Smallville in 2004. Since then, many of her songs have been used on soundtracks for popular television shows and major films due to her sweet, light but full sound. “Heaven’s My Home,” co-written with Ruby Amanfu and performed by the Duhks, was nominated for the Grammy for Best Country Performance in 2007 and appeared in the 2008 film The Secret Life of Bees.

Growing up in Colorado, Herzig began playing guitar her senior year of high school. When she went on to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder, she met Tim and Laurie Thornton and Andrew Jed and formed a bluegrass-folk-pop band called Newcomers Home. The band broke up in 2006, which allowed Herzig to focus completely on a solo career with the release of her second album, Weightless. Many tracks from the album were featured in television and film. “Jack and Jill” was featured on One Tree Hill and Pretty Little Liars. “Fool’s Gold” and “Sweeter than This” were both featured on Grey’s Anatomy.

Also in 2006, Herzig went on tour with the Fray and worked on her third album Apple Tree (2006), released May 18, 2008. “How the West Was Won” was used in HBO’s Bored to Death, and “Hey Na Na” was used in the pilot for Lifetime’s series Drop Dead Diva as well as in the film Going the Distance (2010) starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.

Herzig is kicked off her American tour on November 10, 2011, in Louisville, Kentucky. Listen to “Lost and Found” from The Waking Sleep below:

Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent teamed up to mesh some of their separate recording ideas into a collaboration called Shovels & Rope. The bluesy country-rock musicians from Charleston, South Carolina, and also married, turned the project into a finished album in 2008 under the same name.

Hearst’s style derives from her South Carolina roots, with lyrics of gun-slinging, drinking, dirt roads and dive bars, tambourine beats and acoustic leads. She got a taste of mainstream fame when her song “Hell’s Bells” was featured in a 2010 episode of HBO’s True Blood. Her strong blues/punk voice is perfectly complemented by Trent’s vocal harmonies and raw percussion. The duo has almost views 30,000 YouTube views of their video for “Boxcar,” where they filmed in an empty warehouse. “The Thread” video takes place in the same warehouse, reflecting the band’s intention to have the music to speak for itself.

Shovels & Rope will be featured on tour this fall with headliner Butch Walker & The Black Widows, along with Sinclair Telstar and Fran Capitanelli, and will head to south to Louisiana, Georgia and North Carolina for December shows.
