There is no way around new R&B sensation Miguel. As an LA singer/songwriter and producer, this rising artist has earned his place in the spotlight; currently shooting up the charts with his Grammy award winning hit song ‘Adorn’.
Miguel is working his way up since 2000. Starting at a small production company Drop Squad, he dropped his work there in 2004 to start at independent record label Black Ice where he launched his first single ‘Getcha Hands Up’ in 2006. The following year, Miguel signed at Jive Records, which pushed back his album release back for two years. After that Miguel stayed behind the scenes for a while, writing songs and co-producing songs for Usher’s albums Raymond vs. Raymond & Here I Stand and Musiq Soulchild’s OnMyRadio Album.
In 2010 Miguel finally released his album ‘All I Want Is You’ with three top ten R&B songs such as ‘Sure Thing’, ‘All I Want Is You’ and ‘Quickie’. Jive was shut down and absorbed by RCA records where Miguel singed next. His second album, Kaleidoscope Dream, was released October 2 2012 to critical acclaim. The album is a clever combination of distinct and deft use of pop hooks, influenced and inspired by the music his parents used to listen to. While Kaleidoscope Dream debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, it’s first single, ‘Adorn’, earned a number one spot on the R&B charts!
After all of the label hopping, Miguel is happy to finally be settled with RCA. His sweet touching vocals and sensual modest songs are becoming his trademark- adding his name to the list of new wave R&B artist such as Frank Ocean and The Weeknd. Miguel will continue to entertain the crowds as he performs with Alicia Keys on her Set The World On Fire World Tour.
