    Swedish house DJ/producer, Alesso, releases his highly anticipated debut album, Forever, and it doesn’t disappoint. The album features singles “Tear the Roof Up”, “Heroes (We Could Be)”, and “Cool”. The album showcases a storytelling element that is very rare among house music. It is a very dynamic album with tracks like “Immortal” that pay homage to his father for his inspiration in classical music to underground tracks like “Tear the Roof Up” that get the crowd dancing.

    The album was released off of Def Jam Records on May 22nd, and has peaked at #13 on Swedish Top Albums chart. The single “Heroes (We Could Be)” peaked at #1 on UK Dance, US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs, and US Dance/Mix Show Airplay.

    Alesso is a protege of Sebastian Ingrosso, a member of Swedish House Mafia and he has been making hit records since he hit the scene. Previous hits include, “City of Dreams”, “Calling (Losing My Mind)”, “If I Lose Myself (ft. OneRepublic)”, and “Years (ft. Matthew Koma)”.

    San_Andreas_posterSan Andreas was released to theaters on May 29th, 2015. Directed by Brad Peyton and starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the movie chronicles theaftermath of a massive earthquake in California. Over the weekend, San Andreas has topped the US box office, taking $53.2m and grossing over $113 million worldwide since the release date. The film started shooting on April 22nd, 2014 in Australia and ended on July 27th in San Fransisco.

    The cast, starring Dwayne Johnson, includes Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Ion Gruffudd, & Archie Panjabi. In the film, Chief Raymond Gaines (Johnson) discovers that a shift in the San Andreas fault is starting to occur, causing a massive earthquake. His job as a rescue helicopter pilot is to save those in trouble and he is called into action once the earthquake hits the city as is demolishing buildings around them.

    San Andreas was well-liked among the audience due to its outstanding special effects, earth shattering destruction, and star studded cast, but the expert critics believe that the plot was less than structurally sound. The critics explained that although the film was action packed and exciting, there was less attention to how the film was written. According to RottenTomatoes.com, the film scored a 64% by the audience and a 48% by top critics.

    Callum Turner has had a fantastic 2014. Between starring in Queen and Country co-starring David Thewlis and Glue, the smash-hit E4 series written by BAFTA-winner Jack Thorne, the world of film and TV are sitting up and taking notice of the young Brit.

    Turner’s previous credits include ITV’s Leaving (2012) co-starring Helen McCrory. The story of the consequences of an intimate moment shared between a 24 year-old boy and 45 year-old wife and mother was a great success and Turner’s received positive reviews for his performance. He has also had roles in The Town (2012) co-starring Martin Clunes, The Borgais (2013) and BBC One’s Ripper Street (2013).

    Turner has recently finished filming Victor Frankenstein (2015) co-starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. He will also be starring alongside Imogen Poots and Patrick Stewart in Green Room (2015). This month he was also named at one of BAFTA’s British Breakthroughs  in 2014.

    Joe Cole’s earlier credits include British TV shows such as The Bill (2010), Holby City (2010) and Come Fly With Me (2011). The twenty-five year old’s first noticeable role was Injustice (2011) co-starring James Purefoy. This led to his role in the popular TV series Skins (2012) as Luke and his first film role as Tommy in Offender (2012) co-starring Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat).

    Later in 2012, Cole co-starred alongside Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine in Now Is Good and featured in three episodes of the Golden Globe and Bafta- nominated The Hour co-starring Dominic West and Peter Capaldi. The last couple of years have seen him feature in the popular BBC series Peaky Blinders (2013-present) co-starring Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy, and A Long Way Down (2014) co-starring Pierce Brosnan and Imogen Poots. Next for Cole is Pressure (2014) co-starring model Daisy Lowe and Green Room (2014) co-starring his former colleague Imogen Poots, and Patrick Stewart.

    There were not many dry eyes during the Christmas special of Downton Abbey (2012) when Matthew Crawley was sensationally and un-expectantly, killed off. Played by actor Dan Stevens, Matthew had been a major part of the award-winning programme and his death caused uproar within the fans.

    Downton Abbey was Steven’s breakthrough role in 2010. Before that, he had performed on stage in productions such as As You Like It (2004) and Hay Fever (2006) co-starring Judi Dench. His TV career started with The Line of Beauty (2006) co-starring Hayley Atwell.

    Stevens’ departure from Downton Abbey was shocking to most as he left when the programme was at its peak of popularity. He went onto transform his image into a Hollywood bad boy in the critically acclaimed independent film The Guest (2014). He also starred in another crime thriller A Walk Among Tombstones (2014) co-starring Liam Neeson.

    Stevens is one to watch in Hollywood in the next year. His upcoming roles include The Cobbler (2014) co-starring Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) co-starring an ensemble cast including Robin Williams in one of his last film roles before his death.

    Charlie Cox 2 web

    In his first feature-film, The Merchant of Venice, Charlie Cox co-starred alongside Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons (2004). Over the last couple of years, he appeared in films such as Casanova (2005), co-starring Heath Ledger and on stage in Harold Pinter’s The Collection. His first starring role was as Tristan Thorne in the award-winning Stardust (2007) which featured an all-star cast including Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Claire Danes and Pete O’Toole.

    Since then, Cox has had a recurring role in HBO’s hit TV series Boardwalk Empire (2011-12) and a guest role in Downton Abbey (2010).This year has been one of his biggest as he stars in the up-coming The Theory of Everything, co-starring Eddie Redmayne, and Dracula Untold, co-starring Luke Evans. It has also been announced that Cox will portray Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Marvel’s up-coming Daredevil TV series (2015).

    George MacKay’s breakthrough role was aged 10, playing a Lost Boy in the PJ Hogan version of Peter Pan (2003). His next big role was co-starring with Daniel Craig and Jamie Bell in Defiance, (2008) and then co-starring with Clive Owen in The Boys Are Back (2009).

    In 2013, MacKay played Edmond in How I Live Now, opposite Saoirse Ronan and directed by Kevin Macdonald. He then played Davy Henshaw in the critically-acclaimed, British musical film Sunshine on Leith (2014). This year also sees him star in Pride, co-starring Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton. Pride won the Queer Palm award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. MacKay is a young British star with a great future ahead.

    Jack Reynor has an impressive career for a 23-year old. His breakout role was as the lead in the critically acclaimed Irish film What Richard Did (2012), which won best Irish film of the year at the 10th Irish Film & Television Awards. Reynor himself won the Best Actor award.

    It was this performance that allegedly led to his casting in Transformers: Age of Extension (2014), the first of a new Transformers series co-starring Mark Wahlberg. He also starred in Delivery Man (2014), co-starring Vince Vaughn, and Glassland (2014), co-starring Toni Colette and Will Poluter.

    In 2015,  two big films will releases for Reynor; Macbeth, co-starring Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender, and Girl’s Night Out, co-starring Rupert Everett and Emily Watson.

    Douglas Booth may only be 21 but don’t underestimate this talented young British actor and model. He won his first professional role at the age of 16 in From Time to Time (2009), directed by Julian Fellowes, starring Maggie Smith and Timothy Spall.

    Booth rose to prominence in 2010 following his role as pop star Boy George in the BBC Two Drama Worried About the Boy (2010) which received great reviews.

    2011 saw him star as Pip in the BBC One adaptation of Great Expectations alongside Gillian Anderson and Ray Winstone and the BBC film Christopher and His Kind. His Hollywood breakthrough came in 2013 playing opposite Hailee Steinfeld in a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. He recently finished filming blockbuster Noah (2014) co- starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson.

    Booth also has a successful modelling career having featured in several Burberry campaigns shot by Mario Testino, opposite Emma Watson, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Lily Donaldson.

    Later this year will see Booth in The Wachowski’s science-fiction film Jupiter Ascending, co-starring Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum and Eddie Redmayne as well as The Riot Club, co-starring Max Irons and Sam Claflin.

    Jacob Anderson’s breakout role was in Adulthood (2008), co-starring Danny Dyer and directed by Noel Clarke. He has appeared in British TV favourites such as The Bill (2007), Primeval (2008), Skins (2012), Silent Witness (2012) and the BAFTA award-winning Broadchurch (2013). His film credits include 4,3,2,1 (2010), co-starring Emma Roberts, Chatroom (2010), co-starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Comedown (2012), co-starring Adam Deacon. Since 2013, he has featured in HBO’s smash-hit TV series Game of Thrones.

    Anderson is also a successful singer, known by his stage name Raleigh Ritchie. He has collaborated with Plan B and is due to release his full debut album later this year as well as performing live with Outkast at this year’s Wireless Festival. Expect exciting things from this multi-talented star.
