Nicole Chavez, who ranks on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of the 25 Most Powerful Stylists, began her career working in the wardrobe department of the hit show, The O.C. It was there that Chavez met her soon-to-be loyal first client, Rachel Bilson, who introduced her to Kristen Bell, and Chavez’s career took off. Some of Nicole Chavez’s other notable clientele include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Scarlett Johansson and Katherine Heigl. Her work has graced covers and spreads among magazines including InStyleW, and Harper’s Bazaar.

This Los Angeles based celebrity stylist has been the recipient of the “Star Stylist Extraordinaire” award at the Hollywood Style Awards, and has been named one of the “Top 10 Superstar Stylists” by Forbes Magazine. Chavez has also embraced her role as Style Editor at reFINEstyle, one of the best ready-to-wear collections milled from consignment stores all over the United States. This stylist has said that “fashion can be found anywhere. Some of my favorite finds come from consignment stores. reFINEstyle has the best shops in the country all in one place.”

Nicole Chavez’s style philosophy? “I really work off my clients’ vibes and who they are as people – just like they grabbed the clothes out of their closet as they were leaving. I like the girls to look and feel like it’s something they did themselves. It looks approachable and real – not so overstyled and over the top.” Nicole believes that fashion should “bring your personality into your clothes and have it be an extension of who you are.”

London-based stylist Elizabeth Saltzman got her start working at Giorgio Armani in 1985. She went on to style shoots at American Vogue and Vanity Fair, there she is still a contributing editor. Also, she has been dressing VIP client Gwyneth Paltrow for the past several years.

On Paltrow’s flawless ivory Tom Ford dress she wore to the Oscars and was noted as “best dressed” by many, Saltzman says that “An Oscar dress is about style, elegance and comfort.  Tom Ford designed a masterpiece for G.P. — the Anna Hu diamond cuff rocked the look to perfection, and I wish I could buy the amazing double-finger flower ring…Actually, I wish I could buy the body to rock the whole look.”

Saltzman loves putting the svelte, yoga-toned actress in plunging necklines and leggy minidresses. Paltrow wore a black Stella McCartney gown with cutout details to the Grammys, a sheer Emilio Pucci midriff-baring top and skirt to the Emmys and a daring green sequined Elie Saab dress with a revealing neckline at the Bambi awards in Germany.
A little more demure but every bit as head-turning was the nude backless Prada gown with a big bow at the Contagion premiere in Venice. “I don’t play games,” says Saltzman. “I usually only pick three dresses to choose from, so I don’t waste the designer’s time or mine.”

In mid-2011, rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z launched a lifestyle website showcasing his taste in high-end cars, clothes and gadgets called Life + Times.

The blog is specifically for ambitious and mobile young men with an interest in everything from fashion, design, sports and music. In comparison to other celebrity-founded blogs are sometimes out of touch with the reality that not all the readers are fabulously wealthy, Life + Times makes an effort to keep things down to earth.

Life + Times is only part of Jay-Z’s business empire, which includes stakes in the 40/40 Club chain, the New Jersey Nets basketball franchise, Rocawear and the Roc Nation label. The development of the site along with Jay-Z’s other ventures is a major step toward expanding upon his already established “brand” and moving him toward an Oprah-like level of cultural influence.

To put it simply, the site is perfect if you need “…just a bit of inspiration” as the blog explains.
