We all think of her as the 18 year old punk rock princess who busted on the scene in 2002, but now 26 year old Avril Lavigne is preparing to release her fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby.

Lavigne described the album as being about “life”. She stated, “It’s so easy for me to do a boy-bashing pop song, but to sit down and write honestly about something that’s really close to me, something I’ve been through, it’s a totally different thing.” The album is expected to be a return to Lavigne’s older musical style and may be largely acoustic. With the exception of the album’s lead single, Lavigne describes the songs on the album as different from her earlier material, “I’m older now, so I think that comes across in my music, it’s not as pop-rock and it’s a little more mellow and it’s deep”.

Pick up your copy of Goodbye Lullaby when it hits stores on March 8, 2011.

The Band Perry consists of brothers Neil and Reid Perry and their sister, Kimberly.  These Alabama natives are making a name for themselves with their hit song ‘If I Die Young,’ which can be viewed below. The now-platinum single reached number one on the country music charts, and number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.

28 year old Kimberly has been performing since her teen years, but even back then she kept her brothers close by.  Though they were only 8 and 10 years old, Neil and Reid were roadies for their sister, until they began performing on stage as well.

In 2008, Bob Doyle (manages Garth Brooks) discovered the trio and within a year, the band was signed to Republic Nashville, where they remain signed today.  Soon after, The Band Perry finished recording their debut album.  The self titled record was released in October of 2010.

The band, formed in 2002 and fronted by lead vocalist Grace Potter, is truly something out of the folk revival! The refreshing sound is a blend of blues, soul and rock, showing obvious influences of music from the 60s and 70s. The band was signed to Hollywood records in 2005 and released their debut album Nothing but the Water in may of 2006. You may have heard Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on shows including All my Childrien, Brothers and Sisters, and Greys anatomy (to name a few). The band has has toured  with a number of acts and performed at festivals, including a full set of the Mile High Music Festival  in 2008.  More recently, they appeared on the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland with a remake of Jefferson Airplanes song White Rabbit.  With a unique and timeless sound, Grace Potter is definitely a band worth giving a listen to.

Great Britain seems to churning out the talent this year with yet another female vocalist; 19 year old Pixie Lott. This British bombshell hit the scene in 2009 with her debut single ‘Mama do (uh oh , uh oh)’ which went straight to number 1 in the UK singles charts. Her second single ‘Boys and Girls’ also hit the charts in September of the same year. Her debut album, Turn it up, was released in the UK in September 2009 and is set to be launched State side early 2011.  Pixie’s old fashioned approach to pop music is being praised and critics are dubbing her a throwback for this very reason.

Kelly Rowland, singer, songwriter, actress, and one of the founding members of the musical group Destiny’s Child, is back in the studio working on her third solo album, which is slated for release in November. The album will include the hit “Commander,” featuring David Guetta, which was released in May. Rowland and Guetta also collaborated on his track “When Love Takes Over,” which topped the charts in 2009.  Rowland has won four Grammy Awards, three with Destiny’s Child and one as a solo artist.

There was initial speculation that Rowland’s new album would be self-titled, but in fact, Rowland is running a contest on her website in which fans can submit an album name for Kelly to choose.

This new album is also unique as it is her first with label Universal Motown. Kelly formally ended her professional relationship with both Columbia records and manager Matthew Knowles in early 2009. Rowland has stated that the album will feature a lot of up-tempo tracks, and will “express me and where I’m at right now in my career.”

With more than half the tracks written by artists such as Rico Love and Ne-Yo, Rowland’s new project is set to have more of a dance feel than her previous two albums.

Ms. Rowland is also known for her charity work with the Survivor Foundation, the Staying Alive Foundation, and I Heart My Girlfriends.

Swedish singer Robyn may best be known for her mid-90s hit “Show Me Love,” but she is making waves in the industry again with three new albums set to release in 2010. They are her first commercial releases since 2005.

The three albums are titled Body Talk Pt. 1, Body Talk Pt. 2, and Speak Your Body: Body Talk Pt. 3. Pt. 1 was released in June, with the other two slated to hit stores in September and December respectively.

Robyn has said that despite the three separate releases, she considers the three parts a single album, but thinks that the protracted releases reflect today’s heavy emphasis on individual songs.

Robyn is currently on tour with American singer Kelis, and will be on a short UK circuit in October to promote her new albums. Body Talk Pt. 1 has already reached the top-10 in the UK, so look for more from Robyn as 2010 progresses.

After seeing Tiffany  Page at a showcase last week, we can see why she has been the talk of the music industry.  As well as being incredibly down to earth, she is someone whose natural beauty will augment her singing talent. The combination of the two forms opportunities whose possibilities are endless.   Tiffany’s debut album Walk Away Slow is to be released September 13th 2010.

Tiffany began work on her debut album last Summer, writing and recording in Los Angeles and London.  Her songs are all short, sharp, and instantly memorable, each as tightly constructed and fat free as the next.  Songs like Heaven Ain’t Easy, Hope He Doesn’t Know and Out of Mind, with their snappy riffs and soaring choruses.
