    Lorde – This 17 year old New Zealander released her first EP, The Love Club, on 22 November 2012, and her first single, “Royals”, debuted at number one on the New Zealand Top 40, and also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2013, making her the first New Zealand solo artist to have a number one song in the United States.  Twitter – 551K Followers

    Lydia Ko – 16 year old Lydia Ko is a New Zealand professional golfer. Born Bo-Gyung Ko in Seoul, South Korea, she had been the top-ranked woman amateur golfer in the world for 130 weeks when she announced she was turning professional on 23 October 2013. Twitter – 8K Followers

    Nick D’Aloisio – This 18 year old entrepreneur is a British-born Australian computer programmer who created Summly which is a summarization, artificial intelligence technology developed with SRI International.  Hehas been recognized as the youngest person to receive a round of venture capital in technology at just 15 years of age.  As of March 2013, Summly was sold to Yahoo for a reported $30 million US dollars making him one of the youngest self-made millionaires ever.     Dante de Blasio – Back in August, the 15-year-old son of mayor-elect Bill de Blasio appeared in a now famous campaign ad in which he spoke against stop and frisk and the Bloomberg administration. The ad breathed new life into de Blasio’s campaign, and thrust Dante, and his hairdo, into the national spotlight.  Dante’s afro even garnered the praise and envy of President Obama.

    Malala Yousafzai – 16 year old Malala is a Pakistani school pupil and education activist from the town of Mingora  . She is known for her activism for rights to education and for women, especially in the Swat Valley, where the Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. In early 2009, at the age of 11–12, Yousafzai wrote a blog under a pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule, their attempts to take control of the valley, and her views on promoting education for girls.

    Ionut Budisteanu – this 19 year old recently won first place at the International Science and Engineering Fair — including a $75,000 scholarship — for building a different kind of car than most teenagers are used to driving.  The high school student from Romania invented a self-driving car that is far less expensive than other models that are already in the works. Budisteanu decided to use artificial intelligence in order to decrease the overall cost of technology in self-driving cars.

    Malia Obama – 15 year old Malia lives a high profile life as the oldest daughter of President Barack Obama.  President Obama has credited his stance on gay marriage to his daughters.

    Maya Van Wagenen – The 15-year-old author rose to fame for keeping a diary in her quest to become popular, following antiquated tips from the 1950s self-help book, Betty Cornell’s Glamour Guide for Teens. Her musings landed her a six-figure Penguin book deal for, Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, last month DreamWorks optioned the rights for the novel, making the budding author the “youngest non-actor to ever make a deal” at the film studio.     Justin Beiber – The Canadian-born pop star has become an industry to himself, valued by Forbes at $58 million.     Beth Reekles – The Welsh high school student was looking for something to read other than stories about vampires and werewolves when she decided to write her own teen fiction book. The then-15-year-old used story-sharing site Wattpad to release her novel, The Kissing Booth, which earned more than 19 million views and caught the attention of Random House Children’s Publishers U.K. The author, now 17, scored a three-book deal with the U.S. arm of Random House and has since appeared on the Today show.     Chloe Grace Moretz – If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, you obviously know we are big fans of CGM!  The 16 year old Kick Ass star recently appeared in the lead role of the Carrie remake.  She is also known for her work in (500) Days of Summer and Hugo, and she’s an up-and-comer in the fashion world, too.     Lea Michele, the 26-year-old, Spanish and Italian beauty from Glee is already a triple threat with her singing, dancing and acting skills. Now, she is on track to become an author with her recent announcement of a book deal. The stunning star is currently working on a memoir entitled Brunette Ambition for the Harmony Books imprint of Random House’s Crown Publishing Group. The project will chronicle Michele’s journey from birth in the Bronx and childhood on Broadway to stardom on Glee and impressive presence in Hollywood. It will be part-memoir, part-how-to and part-style guide. It will provide personal, behind-the-scenes know how about business and showbiz, which Lea has gained from years of experience. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences with the world, in an effort to give aspiring singers and actors/actresses a bit of a roadmap to turning dreams into realities.     Science fiction lovers get ready, the film of your dreams has released a trailer!  Cult classic, Ender’s Game has been adapted for our screens.  Based on the 1985 Orson Scott Card novel,   the film centers around the young Ender Wiggin and his epic journey to save mankind.

    Starring Asa Butterfield (Hugo, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) as the gifted young Ender, Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Zombieland) as Valentine Wiggin, and Hailee Steinfeild (True Grit) as Ender’s battleschool-mate Petra.

    The synopsis: After an alien race known as the Formics – commonly referred to as  “buggers” due to their insect-like appearance – attacks Earth, the International Fleet prepare for the next invasion by training the best young children to find the future leader of the International Military. Ender Wiggin, a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is pulled out of his school to join International Fleet and attend the legendary Battle School. After easily mastering the increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect among his peers, Ender is soon ordained by Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School.     Hip-hop group Beastie Boys members Mike D (Michael Diamond) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) have signed a deal with Spiegel & Grau, which is an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, to write their Memoir.

    Beastie Boys consisted originally of three guys, unfortunately MCA (Adam Yauch) passed away last year because of suffering from cancer. The memoir will have a kaleidoscopic frame of reference. The Beastie Boys will make a book with a multidimensional experience for its readers to enjoy.

    Eventually the book will be edited by hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins and will be ‘’loosely structured as an oral history’’ with a ‘’strong visual component’’ as well as contributions from other writers, according to The New York Times.

    The yet-untitled book scheduled for release in fall 2015. Publisher Spiegel & Grau were also responsible for Jay-Z’s book Decoded  in 2010.  Check back here for updates on this project!

    We all know and love him from How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You Man and The Muppets- just to name a few. Funnyman  Jason Segel has also written music and screenplays and produced for the big screens. Now we’ll   love him for one more thing; BOOKS!

    Earlier this month, Segel disclosed that he had written a trilogy for young readers.  It’s foundation was from a script he had written when he was 21, which was revealed during a Q&A after the screening of Forgetting Sarah Marshall in New York.

    Random House announced this week that they will publish Segel’s trilogy of books called ‘Nightmares‘ which is targeted towards middle schoolers. ‘Nightmares‘ is a story about kids who have to save their town from fear which is in the form of nightmare creatures. The first book is slated for a Fall 2014 release.

    Also look out for his upcoming movie This Is The End, which stars James Franco, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and of course Jason Segel.

    Ree Drummond is more than a southern belle with a lovely family, farm, and blog…she is an author, blogger and star of her own Food Network Show!  Ree started her blog Pioneer Woman in 2006 and has been filling the pages with delicous recipes and more ever since.  Her and “Malboro Man” ( the nickname she calls her husband on the blog) have four sons, a farm and lots of exciting things to share.  More than just the recipes and southern cooking she is known for,  Ree also has pages on her blog for photography, home & decor, homeschooling and the confessions she is willing to share with the bloggesphere.

    Along with Pioneer Woman, in 2009 Ree started another blog called Tasty Kitchen as a forum where everyday people could easily share recipes.  Coinciding with these blogs, she is also an award winning author with four books including “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes From an Accidental Country Girl” and the follow-up, “The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Food From My Frontier.”

    After getting noticed for Pioneer Woman’s success Ree was given her own show on The Food Network titled alongside her blog “Pioneer Woman.”  The show premiered on August 27, 2011 and is still sizzling just like the delicious dishes she is serving up.  You can check out her blog at The Pioneer Woman and her shows returns to the Food Network this fall!

    Saoirse Ronan, the young actress that starred in “The Lovely Bones” and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Atonement”, will star in the film The Host, slated for release on March 29, 2013.

    This new movie is the film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s sci-fi love story. Meyer is also the author of the epic Twilight series. In “The Host,” Ronan will play a 20-year old human girl named Melanie Stryder who is invaded by a parasitic alien in its attempt to seek the last group of surviving humans on Earth.

    The alien is a part of the species known as “Souls” who can only survive by inserting themselves into a host body. When Melanie learns to put up mental walls to prevent her invader from locating her family through her memories, the plot thickens as the invader becomes torn between its loyalty to the species and the growing empathy for its human host.

    Born Vera Chokalingam, Mindy Kaling is best known for playing the bubbly, celebrity-obsessed Kelly Kapoor on NBC’s hit The Office since 2005. Kaling is also a co-executive producer and writer on the show. She has been featured in Entertainment Weekly’s list of the “10 Funniest Actresses in Hollywood” and Rolling Stone’s “Hot List.”

    Although her parents are from Inida, Kaling was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She attended Dartmouth College where she was a member of the improv-comedy group, “The Dog Day Players” and  sang in the a cappella group “The Rockapellas.” Kaling also perused her comedic talents in print, as the creator of the comic strip “Badly Drawn Girl” in The Dartmouth daily newspaper and as a writer for the Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern, the college’s humor magazine. After she graduated in 2001, Kaling co-wrote and starred as Ben Affleck in “Matt & Ben” (2003), a play that showed at P.S. 122 in the East Village. It was named one of Time magazine’s “Top Ten Theatrical Events of the Year.”

    Kaling began showcasing her wit on the small screen in 2005 with appearances on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm where she played Richard Lewis’s assistant, around the same she landed her role on The Office. She also wrote for an episode of Saturday Night Live in 2006. It wasn’t until her role in the huge hit, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, that she broke into film. This was followed by roles in more films such as Unaccompanied Minors, License to Wed, Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian, and in No Strings Attached starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. Kaling also had a small part in the animated comedy Despicable Me, which starred her Office costar, Steve Carell.

    Kaling most recently published a comic memoir called Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) that she promoted on the October 21 episode of The Daily Show with John Stewart. One of her upcoming projects is her role in the 2012 film, The Five-Year Engagement.

    Glee star, Chris Colfer, who was recently named one of Time Magazine’s “100 most Influential People,” has plans to become an author. Colfer signed a 2-book deal with Little Brown Books for Young Readers. The first book, “The Land of Stories,” is a modernized fairy tale about a set of twins, which will be geared toward the 8- to 12-year-old age group.  The book is set to come out next summer.

    In addition to writing “The Land of Stories,” Colfer has been busy writing a pilot for the Disney Channel based on the children’s book “The Little Leftover Witch” by Florence Laughlin.  He is also writing an independent film called “Struck by Lightening,” which he will star in as well.

    The Perks of Being a Wallflower was, and still is, a huge hit novel with its generation.  It tells the story of an introvert freshman named Charlie who experiences everything from drug use to his best friend’s.  He finally learns how to enjoy life again after being taken under the wings of two seniors, step brother and sister, Patrick and Sam.

    The production company (Mr. Mudd) is working with producers John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, and Russell Smith hired the novel’s author Stephen Chbosky to write an adapted screenplay and to direct the film.

    Filming is scheduled to begin next month and we expect this film to be huge.  With names like Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev, and Logan Lerman associated with it, you will want to be sure not to miss The Perks of Being a Wallflower.  The film is slated for a 2012 release.
