Young and Hungry. Two individual words, that when attached, perfectly describe the star of ABC’s new sitcom Young& Hungry, Emily Osment. After playing Miley Cyrus’ lovable best friend, Lilly, on the Disney series, “Hannah Montana”, Osment is certainly “young”, and “hungry” to star in a show of her own. Which is exacty what she is doing. The sitcom was created by David Holden, and is being executively produced by Osment’s fellow Disney star, Ashley Tisdale. The series follows a wealthy, young tech entrepreneur Josh (Jonathan Sadowski), who hires an energetic and feisty young food blogger named Gabi (Emily Osment) to be his new personal chef. Although Josh is in a committed relationship, sparks fly between the two characters and they inevitably end up sleeping together on the first episode. Throughout the comical series, the two characters struggle go back and forth in regard for how the feel about one another. The cast is also comprised of actors, Rex Lee, Kym Whitley and Aimee Carrero, each of whom bring their own comedic flair to the show.
The sitcom is loosely based upon the life of San Francisco food blogger, Gabi Moskowitz, who created her blog, BrokeAss Gourmet, in 2008. Moskowitz is an executive consultant on the show and does a webisode once a week where she cooks with members of the cast on the “Young & Hungry” set. Although the character on the series is not based on the life of Moskowitz, she is involved in the show and believes that both she and the character share similar and loveable qualities.
It is clear that this generational sitcom has all the right ingredients to whip up just what audiences want to watch!
