The buzz about Tina Fey’s new show for Netflix is largely positive with some grey linings. Apparently, although many are finding the show starring an upbeat Ellie Kemper (The Office, Bridesmaids) funny and clever they are also taking issue with the preponderance of race jokes therein. Kemper plays the titular Kimmy Schmidt, a bright eyed doomsday cult survivor who turns over a new leaf in New York City.
Kimmy wants nothing more than to live a normal life after being rescued from an underground bunker where she lived for 15 years. She befriends her new roommate Titus and works as a babysitter for Jacqueline Voorhees, a royally messed up wife of a millionaire. While many obstacles are thrown in her way, Kimmy makes the best of her new life while having to adapt to the new world.
