“Happyish” follows Thom Payne, a middle-aged man, who is trying his best to push against the changes that the youth are bringing to the advertising agency he works at. He realizes he may no longer be relevant and is in need of “re-branding” when he gets two new and much younger bosses, who won’t stop talking about social media and going viral. He struggles to find what happiness really means in a world that doesn’t seem authentic to him anymore.
“Happyish” also stars heavy hitters like Kathryn Hahn and Bradley Whitford as well as guest stars like Molly Price and Ellen Barkin.
The show was put in jeopardy when the originally casted star Phillip Seymour Hoffman passed away. It wasn’t until last fall when British actor Steve Coogan was cast and they refilmed the pilot. Coogan brings his own twist to this dark comedy written and produced by critically acclaimed author Shalom Auslander. He commented that the show was written based off his time working in advertising. The show is set to premiere Sunday April 26th at 9:30pm ET following Showtimes popular hit “Nurse Jackie.”
