Intramural is an upcoming independent sports comedy film directed by Andrew Disney. The film stars Jake Lacy, Nikki Reed, Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett and Jay Pharoah. The script, written by Bradley Jackson, is about a group of college friends in their final year getting together for a game of intramural football before going into the real world. It is the first narrative film to be released by Ralph Smyth Entertainment and is the first sports film about intramural sports.
A hilarious inspirational sports movies and replete with epic training montages, over the top motivational speeches and bone crunching tackles, “Intramural” tells an epic tale of a group of 5th year seniors who form an intramural football team in their final year of college before being forced out into the real world. “Intramural” is the GLORIOUS love child of cult classics such as “Wet Hot American Summer” and “Dodgeball”.
The script was written by first-time screenwriter/producer Bradley Jackson, during his sophomore year in the University of Texas, and he based the story on his friends playing a game of intramural football. Being a film that delved into the subculture of intramural sports, Jackson was drawn to the story because he, “wanted to write a comedy that people haven’t seen before”. He also commented on the long-term effects the film might have on people overtime saying, “Our goal is for people to look at this [movie] in five years and wonder how the hell we got all that talent into a little indie like this”. Andrew Disney was picked by the producers to direct the film. Disney commented by saying, “[We’ve] got a hilarious script, a terrific ensemble cast, and one hell of a production team. I can’t wait to start shooting in Austin”.
