Actress/Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return as hosts of the next two Golden Glove Awards, beginning with the 71st annual ceremony on January 12, 2014. The news come as a huge (and pleasant) surprise to fans who were led to believe that the duo’s hosting gig of the 2013 show was a one-time deal with no obligation to return. Fey and Poehler reportedly were approached over the summer by longtime Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions and The Hollywood Foreign Press Association about returning as hosts for the upcoming seasons.

The duo’s return to the stage follows an extremely successful 2013 showing at the Globes in which Fey and Poehler drew high critical praise and big ratings. The January ceremony reeled in 19.7 million viewers, an increase in 17% from the previous year’s show, making it one of the most watched Golden Globes ever. The show also recorded a 6.4 rating in the crucial 18-49 adult demo, up 28% from 2012. Fey and Poehler further cemented their status as a trendy comedy duo last month when the pair teamed up for a memorable opening bit, widely regarded as the highlight of this year’s Primetime Emmy’s.

Over the years Fey and Poehler have displayed a unique and distinctive chemistry that has made the duo one of comedy tv’s most captivating duos, and the pair is certainly no newcomer to the live stage. Both are considered titans of the 38 year-old and still running Saturday Night Live platform, and have recently returned as guest hosts of the show’s season premieres, with Fey hosting just last month. For their previous Golden Globes act, the duo wasted no time cracking on fellow celebrities in the crowd  including 2012 host, Ricky Gervais, who was criticized for being too experimental and off-the-cuff with his routine. Ultimately, the funny pals impressed show-runners and audience members alike, and the 2-year commitment signifies a bevy of hilarious celebrity zingers and jabs to come.

Currently, Faye is in the first season of a huge 4-year deal at Universal TV which has her working on two high-profile comedy projects. She’s also featured in two major upcoming films: Muppets Most Wanted, which has completed production and is slated for a March 2014 release, as well as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, in theaters December 20, 2013. Poehler, who is in the midst of working on her first book, also has a busy upcoming schedule: she plays a supporting role in the new comedy They Came Together (unknown release date) and is also featured in Anchorman 2. Additionally, you can hear her voice on the upcoming 3D animated comedy, Free Birds, coming out on November 1st.
