With such an amazing high school career, Manziel received the nickname “Johnny Football”, and was highly recruited to play at the next level in Division I college football.

After many meetings with coaches and numerous visits to college campuses, Johnny Manziel chose to play for Coach Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M. When he arrived on campus, it didn’t take long for him to earn the starting quarterback position. He quickly became a football legend. Manziel was the first freshmen and only fifth player in the NCAA history to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. From his great achievements and breaking multiple records, he won the SEC Freshmen of the Year Award, and the College Football Performance National Freshmen of the Year Award. Johnny then won the Davey O’Brian Award as well as the Heisman Trophy Award. He was the first freshman, ever, to win either award.

As Johnny Manziel continued to play through his sophomore season, he also continued to party through his sophomore year at Texas A&M. Manziel became known as one of the biggest party animals in sports. He became recognized as ” the new Joe Namath”. Just like any other college student, Johnny Manziel wanted to live it up over the weekends, and he definitely did. Through pictures and mass media, Johnny was noticed for being the life of the party. He is known just as much on the field as he is off the field. His star-studded nightlife has him partying whenever he can, from with his friends at college, to traveling to rage in Las Vegas.

In January 2014, after his sophomore season, Manziel announced he would withdraw from his junior year in order to enter the 2014 National Football League Draft. He was predicted to go within the first round pick. Despite his partying background, NFL coaches still wanted Manziel on their team. He was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 22nd pick in the first round on May 8,2014. This same year, Johnny Manziel was drafted as a shortstop, by the San Diego Padres, in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball Draft, when he hasn’t played baseball since high school.

This young star has become a two- time professional athlete in both football and baseball. Being only in his early 20’s, Manziel is already a young millionaire entertainer. As he continues to amuse us off the filed with his mass partying and crazy antics, “Johnny Football”, will definitely be one to watch as he takes on the NFL in the 2014 season to come.
